Brave extension

One item in the menu you already have.

Typesmith adds Format text to the browser’s right-click menu and leaves the rest of that menu alone. Choosing it opens a dropdown. The type it applies is ordinary CSS, so it sits in normal page text.

Try it on the sheet

Select words and right-click. Format text is a dropdown in that menu. The words stay selected, so you can change font, size, and weight without selecting them again.

Proof 014 · Night shift

The evening proof

The shop smells like warm ink and orange peel. Lena pulls the last sheet and holds it to the lamp, looking for a river of white running down the paragraph.

“The headline is shouting,” she says. “It should invite.”

She loosens the tracking, drops the size a hair, and sets the pull quote in italic small caps. The menu on the counter still says Tuesday soup in a font that looks like it was chosen by someone in a hurry.

Set the soup in something with a spine. Leave the price quiet. If a word matters, it can be heavier without being louder.

Outside, the rain starts. Inside, the type finally sits still.

Install it in Brave

Same studio, on any ordinary webpage. Also works in Chrome and Edge. It never uploads the page — styles stay in the tab.

How the right-click works

  • Select text and right-click. Format text opens as a dropdown on that menu.
  • The words stay selected, so the next change does not make you select them again.
  • It shows up for a selection or a text field, not on every right-click.
  • Styles are standard CSS on the text. A partial selection becomes a span, which a paragraph is allowed to contain.
  • If a site replaces the menu entirely, its menu wins. Reload the tab after installing.

What it can change

Face, size, weight, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, small caps, ink, highlight, letter spacing, word spacing, line spacing, case, alignment, shadow, and underline style. Presets cover editorial, poster, marker, mono, handwriting, and night. Undo, clear, and copy the CSS.

Pages that draw letters on a canvas, such as Google Docs, don’t hand the text to extensions. Everything else that is real text on the page is fair game.
